WHO THEY REALLY REPRESENT

Politicians are Predictable
WHO THEY REALLY REPRESENT
IF YOU KNOW WHO MADE A POLITICIAN RICH; YOU KNOW HOW THEY'LL VOTE
Congress is filled with crooks.

These lawyers and corporate insiders pretend during their campaigns that they will stand with the voters. They use those lies to trick voters into supporting them and then, once elected, they betray those who voted them into office in favor of those who enrich them.

WhoTheyREALLYRepresent is based on a simple premise: Politicians are predictable. If someone made millions helping clients lie and say the sky is yellow, they are unlikely to call the sky blue once elected. After examining lawmakers records, it is clear that pre-candidacy clients, careers, and campaign contributions, were HIGHLY predictive of post-election voting records.

This shouldn’t surprise anybody. Most of us know in our guts that most politicians vote on behalf of those who made them rich, not those who need their help. Moreover, buying access and influence through campaign contributions and backroom deals is a tragic outgrowth of our broken campaign finance laws. While we at WTRR want those finance laws to change, we know we they won't while politicians who benefit from the current system keep getting elected. For now, our goal is to shift the balance of power back towards voters through transparency and accountability.

We are non-partisan. We see gross betrayals of trust among both Democrats and Republicans. Moreover, we do not focus on a specific set of policies or issues. Instead, we focus on exposing lies, hypocrisy, and inconsistency. That means that a gun-company executive running for office on a pro-gun platform is unlikely to be highlighted here. On the other hand, if we become aware of a lawyer who has spent his or her career helping oil companies skirt environmental regulations running for office as a ‘green’ democrat, we’ll issue a statement.

If we are successful, we will increase transparency, accountability, and integrity in Washington. Encouraging a frank conversation about who our elected officials REALLY represent is an important first step in that effort.
